A happy accident these 3 pools – 3 in all – see arrows.

Having thought the two apple trees we lost were due to shallow roots due to clay soil we decided to dig some test pools at the bottom of the plot while Dave was here with his digger doing our first round of fencing. It turns out it’s pure clay down about 2 to 3 feet – ideal.

Then we find they fill naturally with all the springs and water run off from the hill above.

Only Jeff likes to swim in the pools. He likes digging in them too!
