But before we start, some March views

METFLOOR…
Metfloor is the permanent shuttering that supports the first floor slab – a corrugated sheet system. This is our focus this month together with finishing off the drainage…

THE BEAMS

Tuesday March 12, the day the beams went in and we started the Metfloor permanent shuttering. Things went surprisingly well (thanks to Mark on the hiab) and we managed to get all the garage covered and the kit in the dry for the first time since March last year.

DRAINAGE STUFF…

Meanwhile we’re finishing off the groundworks, bedding the new electricity supply ducting in sand before covering the land drain and soil drains with pea gravel and stone chippings on top for the pathway. Then onto the roof draiange on the other side of the house – adding additional pipework should we or anyone in the future want to recycle the rainwater.

Monday March 4. Ground floor walls poured. 53 cubic metres of the lovely grey stuff.

Here’s the ground floor with all the scaffolding removed and ready for the Metfloor permanent shuttering to go on next week.

The Duraform boys have tamed the liquid chaos again. Our naievety probably helped – we probably over braced, kickered, propped, screwed everything but we’re all still alive. Now the dismantling of all the temporary stuff begins ready for the first floor slab work to begin.
