23rd: It’s floor pour day!

Foil protection membrane going on – sealed with foil tape – doh! The very stuff we’re trying to separate from the concrete!
Edging foam in, timber boxes edged with membrane (what a ball ache) and stud walls set out. Decoiler set up and ready to…roll! (sorry!).
Note: the sound of insulation underfoot is a big motivator for dog playtime!

Tom with the Duraform pump on duty again. Lovely sunny start to the day.
Another 42 tons of concrete going in (that makes the floor getting on for 200 tons in total)

The start of the dry shake finish – Hatcrete quartz hardener being dusted over and ground into the ‘fat’
Relentless Kieran and Steve getting the finish right
16 hours after the first concrete hit the floor Kieran and Steve have left the building (12:15 AM)

Tracy’s birthday prezzie arrives. Thank you Sobie for planning and coordinating. Thank you to DCW Polymers for a fantastic, quality, product – 100% recycled plastic. No more rotting wood / wood maintenance etc.

The new water supply fiasco. We thought South West Water were being overly cautious when they got a permit to close our lane for 5 days to connect our new water supply (to the existing meter and replacing the supply for the old bungalow). Surely just 1 days work? Well it probably would have been if the Engineers had been given a plan with the X in the right place…

The Engineer was told to install where the BIG black X is. So he dug outside our house – in the correct location – but that’s not where the BIG X is – we are the last little ‘x’ on the right hand end of the blue line. According to the BIG X, the blue line does not reach there – so they left saying they could not connect us to the mains! That’s why they needed to close the road for 5 days – to work out that the BIG X is in the wrong place and they can connect us to the mains!!!!

Now we have what we paid for – a 32mm connection to the mains…

MVHR:

Hallway downstairs almost finished. We have to leave room for the acro props (supporting the floor upstairs until it sets) before we can complete
